Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our 8K digital art reproductions — file formats, licensing, downloads, and more.
What file formats do you offer?
+
All reproductions are delivered in uncompressed TIFF format (.tif), the industry standard for archival-quality image preservation used by museums and galleries worldwide. TIFF files maintain the highest level of detail and color accuracy without the compression artifacts common in JPEG or PNG formats. This means your prints will look as close to the original painting as technically possible.
What resolution are the files? Can I print them at large sizes?
+
Our files range up to 8K resolution (7680 × 4320 pixels), depending on the source material and the size of the original painting. Most files exceed 300 DPI at their native resolution — the standard for professional print quality — making them suitable for large-format printing up to poster or wall-mural sizes. For example, a typical 8K file can produce a stunning 24×36 inch (60×90 cm) print at 300 DPI, or even larger at lower DPI settings. Each volume listing includes the specific resolution and DPI information.
How do I download my purchase?
+
After completing your purchase via Stripe, you will receive a download link immediately on the confirmation page and via email. Volume packages (typically 200MB–1GB+) are served via high-speed secure links. Downloads are available immediately and do not expire — you can re-download your purchases at any time from your order confirmation.
Can I use these images commercially? Do I need to credit Gallerixes?
+
Yes, absolutely. Every purchase from Gallerixes includes a full commercial license at no extra cost. You may use the reproductions for prints, merchandise, interior design, editorial publications, websites, social media, advertising, and other commercial applications. No attribution or credit to Gallerixes is required. The license is perpetual and never expires. The only restrictions are that you cannot resell the original digital files as-is or use them in a competing digital art reproduction service.
What is a 'volume' package?
+
Our collection is organized into curated volume packages for each artist. A volume typically contains a set of related paintings grouped by period, series, or theme — for example, all of Monet's Water Lilies or Van Gogh's Sunflowers series. This curated approach means you get a complete, cohesive set of works rather than random individual files. Each volume is sold as a single downloadable package at an accessible price, typically $6.99 per volume.
Are the paintings in the public domain? Can I use them without copyright issues?
+
The original paintings in our collection are predominantly by artists whose works have entered the public domain (created before 1929). This means the original artworks are free from copyright restrictions. Our reproductions represent our investment in high-quality digitization, color calibration, and processing. The digital files themselves are our product — but since the underlying works are public domain, you have broad freedom to use the reproductions in personal and commercial projects without worrying about copyright claims from the original artists' estates.
What payment methods do you accept? Is it safe?
+
We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe — including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Stripe is one of the world's most trusted payment processors, used by millions of businesses globally. All transactions are encrypted with bank-level SSL security. We never store your credit card details on our servers — everything is handled securely by Stripe's PCI DSS Level 1 compliant infrastructure.
What if I need a refund?
+
Due to the digital nature of our products, we generally do not offer refunds once a download has been initiated. However, if you experience any technical issues — corrupted files, incomplete downloads, or format compatibility problems — please contact us at support@gallerixes.com and we will provide a replacement download link promptly at no additional cost. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.
How large are the files? Will they work on my computer?
+
File sizes vary by volume, typically ranging from 200MB to over 1GB per volume package. Each volume listing displays the total file size so you can plan accordingly. TIFF files can be opened by most professional and consumer image software: Adobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, GIMP (free), Preview (built into macOS), and many other applications. For converting to other formats (JPEG, PNG), simply open the TIFF in any image editor and export to your preferred format.
Do you offer bulk or institutional licensing?
+
Yes! We offer special pricing for bulk purchases, educational institutions, museums, libraries, and commercial enterprises. Whether you need a large number of volumes for a university art department or a custom package for a design agency, we can tailor a solution. Please contact us at support@gallerixes.com to discuss your specific needs.
How often do you add new artists or collections?
+
We are continuously expanding our collection. New artists and additional volumes are added regularly as we source and digitize new works. We currently have 93 master artists in our archive and are always working on adding more. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when new collections arrive — new subscribers also receive exclusive early access to new releases.
What makes Gallerixes different from free image sources?
+
While you can find reproductions of famous paintings on free sites like Wikimedia Commons, the quality difference is significant. Our files are specifically digitized, color-calibrated, and processed for professional use. Free sources typically offer compressed images at much lower resolutions (often 1000–3000 pixels), which lose critical detail when printed or enlarged. Gallerixes files reach up to 7680 × 4320 pixels in uncompressed TIFF format — capturing individual brushstrokes, canvas texture, and color nuance that compressed web images simply cannot reproduce. For professional printing, merchandise, or large-format display, this quality difference is essential.
Can I convert TIFF files to JPEG or other formats?
+
Yes, absolutely. TIFF is the highest-quality format for archival storage, but you can easily convert to JPEG, PNG, WebP, or any other format using any image editing software. Simply open the TIFF file in Photoshop, GIMP, Preview (Mac), or even free online converters, then export to your preferred format. We recommend keeping the original TIFF for archival purposes and creating JPEG/PNG copies for everyday use.
Do you have a free sample I can try before purchasing?
+
Yes! We offer a free 8K sample of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" (8000 × 5643 pixels) that you can download directly from our homepage. This lets you experience the quality of our reproductions before making a purchase. The sample is in high-quality JPEG format and is yours to keep — no sign-up required.
